If you would like to sell insurance in North Carolina, you must complete an approved line of prelicensing education and pass the state licensing exam.

To satisfy the requirements for your course, you will need to pass a Certification Exam in the online course. After passing the Certification Exam with a 70% or greater, you will receive an Examination Admission, which you will need to be admitted to your state exam. The Examination Admission Ticket is valid for 90 days or 5 exam attempts (whichever comes first); you will need to take and pass your state exam within the 90-day timeframe.

Once you have your Examination Admission, you will need to apply for your license and pay the appropriate fees at www.nipr.com. The license application is valid for 6 months. If you have not obtained your confirmation that your license has been issued within that period, you will need to reapply.
Once you have applied for your license, you will receive an Authorization Email from Pearson VUE that will contain your NPN (National Producer Number) and other information that you need to schedule your state exam.
You will also receive an email from NIPR. This email will contain information that you will need to schedule your fingerprinting, so make sure that you save it.
Licensing exams are provided by Pearson VUE. An exam fee must be paid at the time of reservation by credit card, debit card, voucher or electronic check, and exam reservations can be made up until 24 hours prior to the exam session. You can make an exam reservation through the following methods:
